Hello Blogging World! My name is Alex Lee and I am a nineteen - year old aspiring Chef, full time Culinary student, and an avid experimenter and connoisseur in the kitchen. I have always been an extreme food lover! The different types of cuisine that I was privileged enough to try growing up definitely inspired me to get into the food industry. Being a child of mixed race also nudged me to get into Culinary training, because I would love to be able to put my own twist on certain dishes and staples within both the Italian and Asian cultures. Last summer I travelled all over Asia, and the types of dishes, ingredients, and significant items in different cities and countries made me to want to further my knowledge about food and want to become a chef! I also have a tremendous passion for baking and using non - processed ingredients; my passion for baking is definitely another reason why I pursued the Culinary Chef program! Currently I am working at a small cafe in Toronto. I am helping with the baking and creation of different products, and at the same time analyzing all facets of this opportunity; I would love to one day delve into the entrepreneurship aspect of cooking and the culinary industry. When it comes to cooking, my personal philosophy is absolutely to bring something to the table that tastes delicious, yet has a healthier presence. I am extremely into health and fitness, and I find that something can still taste phenomenal, yet not make someone feel guilty or bad. Eating should be about enjoying, not about feeling remorseful an hour after the meal. I like to use organic and natural ingredients, rather than processed chemicals and additives. By taking the Culinary Chef program, I really hope to broaden my skill set and my horizon when it comes to cooking and baking. The program really focuses on teaching the basics and fundamentals, and I think that the basics are just what I need in order to explore other types of cuisines. The foundations that I will learn will also help me become confident enough to change and play around with certain techniques, recipes, and methods, thus enabling myself to change and create my own twists on certain recipes!
